A native of California originally from Humboldt County. I was in the Navy from 1982 to 2003 and worked for the USCG from 2003 - 2010. While in the USN I was stationed on 3 different submarines (boats) and one aircraft carrier. At about the mid point of my Navy career I became an instructor and curriculum developer.
When "Multi-media" came to the USN it was called PowerPoint. Now instead of inducing walking comas with black text on white paper or clear transparencies, we evolved to putting people to sleep digitally. Many a trainee suffered death by PowerPoint by my wireless pointer.
After I started work with the USCG I discovered Macromedia Adobe and Techsmith. I decided that I should repent of my traditional ways and take a class on Instructional Presentation Standards. Later I served penance by creating a class called PowerPoint POP (How to avoid Death by PowerPoint) in MS Office 2007. Instructors began taking my class and some were even ordered to do so. Life got just a little better at the training center. Students actually started retaining more information longer, the sense of dread that hung thick in the classroom air was fading away.
Why I am taking Introduction to Dreamwever.
I am going for the Interactive Media Developer certificate offered by SRJC. Later I hope to get the matching IMD AA degree. For the immediate short run I am interesting in sharpening and increasing skills I have already gained.
Training Development is still my primary interest. Through Dreamweaver and other CS5 Master Suite programs I hope to develope engaging interactive content and delivery methods. Additionally the delivery methodes will contain the ability to retrieve metrics that will give some measurment of knowledge gained. To this end I will have to learn more about Learning Management Systems.
